Seminar: "Environmental Law - EU Green Deal and its impact on Developing Countries" with Professor Marta Stanisławska

Climate change, resource depletion, and environmental pollution pose significant global challenges. In this context, environmental policies and laws play a crucial role in promoting sustainable development. The European Union (EU) has been at the forefront with its green policies, notably the EU Green Deal. To help students gain deeper insights into its impact, the University of Economics and Law, VNU-HCM, was honored to welcome Professor Marta Stanisławska from the University of Wroclaw, Poland, on February 25, 2025.

Professor Marta Stanisławska visited the talent bachelor class at the University of Economics and Law and extended her greetings to all students. During the seminar, Professor Marta provided an overview of the current environmental situation, emphasizing the role of environmental law in mitigating the negative impacts of economic activities. She introduced the EU Green Deal in detail—a plan aimed at achieving a carbon-neutral economy by 2050—highlighting key policies such as emission reduction, ecosystem protection, and transitioning to a circular economy. Notably, she analyzed the Green Deal’s impact on developing countries, discussing both opportunities and challenges in adapting to the EU’s increasingly stringent environmental standards.

The Q&A session was lively, with students raising concerns about the real-world effects of the EU Green Deal on developing economies, challenges in implementing environmental laws across different nations, and the role of businesses and individuals in fostering sustainable development.

Concluding the seminar, Professor Marta expressed her admiration for UEL students: "My experience at UEL has been amazing, from the warm welcome to the engaging discussions. I always look forward to visiting your university because it’s always a wonderful time. Thank you once again!"

The seminar provided valuable insights, broadening students’ understanding of environmental law while encouraging critical thinking in seeking sustainable solutions for the future.
