International Lecture: "TOYOTA's Digital Transformation Project"

On February 28th 2024, the University of Economics and Law, VNUHCM was honored to be the co-host of  the international lecture "TOYOTA's Digital Transformation" in collaboration with Toyota Motor Corporation from the Land of the Rising Sun. UEL students were very surprised when Toyota's General Project Manager managed to be present at the lecture despite long-distance travel to Vietnam. He is on the way to spreading the values reaped in the digital transformation project conducted by one of the "giants" from Japan.

Presenting at the event, representative speakers from Toyota Motor Corporation, Mr. Shunji Miyahara, General Project Manager and Mr. Ryo Oshima, Project Coordinator delivered an overview of the company's history, cooperation activities in Vietnam, as well as future endeavors. In addition, the seminar also armed UEL students with a deeper insight into the digital transformation process in production and business activities, plus the practical applications of Big Data and AI in data processing to improve business operations based on customer needs.

"The reasons why we are here is not just merely to spread out the values of the project to the young Vietnamese, but the energetic Generation Z is the motivation for us to explore the potential market of this S-shaped country", Mr. Miyahara shared.
The sharing session of the speakers was followed by the exciting hands-on experience, or as the students called it "the motor show experience at UEL”.

The usual campus was divided into two separated experience areas - indoor and outdoor. Particularly, the indoor area was filled with virtual reality (VR) devices applying modern technology e.g. AI cameras that track users' eye movements, customer counting sensors, etc.

The most interesting part of the experience was probably the outdoor area, whereas the three "real" Toyota car were placed on the campus, allowing students to interact directly with the car. "To me, this experience is probably once-in-a-lifetime throughout my time at UEL. It was enjoyable to interact with the car, but it would be even more thrilling if I could drive it on the campus." - B22 student, Nguyen Thanh Uyen Thi giggled.

This event is a valuable opportunity for UEL students to learn more about Toyota Motor Corporation and its integrated technology from Japan. It was also a memorable experience for university students to expand their network with Toyota representatives. Keep the fire burning, and who knows, an internship might become a reality after all!
